The first units will be built on the open space at the S-Bahn station Tempelhof. Later the development will be continued on the side of Neukölln and Tempelhofer Damm. The construction of these apartments to be rented for six to eight Euros per square meter net ex services, according to the Berlin’s Senator Müller, is of citywide interest. The Senator focuses on tenants from middle and lower income groups. According to the Senator, the edges of the airfield of the former airport Tempelhof should be “available for new and affordable housing". The open space in the center of the airfield should be maintained.

In 2013 and 2014, the development plans will be prepared with public participation. Although Berlin properties are urgently needed, there is also criticism regarding this project. Before the project is realized, there will be a referendum. And only if this is positive in favor of the major project, the construction will start.

The financing of the project, still is a "balancing act", the Senator went on. Besides the cost of the actual project, there remains the renovation of the airport with at least 150 million Euros.
